Look in the bowl.

Most fresh dog food comes out of a kettle. Ours does not. Every ingredient is cooked on its own, then combined.

  • Low in fat and high in protein, USDA ground turkey supports lean muscle development.

  • Rich in vitamins and fiber, sweet potatoes support digestive health and sustained energy.

  • Low in calories and high in fiber, summer squash supports digestive health and hydration.

  • Green peas provide protein and fiber, supporting muscle health and digestive function.

  • Packed with vitamins and minerals, spinach supports eye health and provides antioxidants.

  • Packed with antioxidants and fiber, blueberries support immune function and digestive health.

  • Known for urinary tract health, cranberries provide antioxidants and support urinary health.

Their plan

How much, and when.

Worked out for the dog you tell us about, on the dates your box actually lands. Change the dog and every number below moves with it.

The first ten days

Change them over in four steps.

Pick roughly what they eat now and we will use a typical calorie figure for that kind of food. For an exact answer, every bag and can prints its own kcal per kg.

kcal per kg

  1. Days 1 to 325%
  2. Days 4 to 650%
  3. Days 7 to 975%
  4. Day 10 on100%
Turkey that day What they eat now

Each bar is one bowl, and the bowl is always full: the hatched part is their old food, the solid part is ours. Mix the two together rather than feeding them side by side. Some dogs want longer than ten days. Slowing down never hurts. Speeding up sometimes does.

Keeping it

It arrives frozen and belongs in the freezer. Move a packet to the fridge the night before you need it. Once thawed, keep it airtight and use it within 5 days.

Never refreeze a thawed packet

Freezer room

Packets lie flat and stack, so they take about as much room as the same number of hardback books.

The first week

Expect smaller, firmer stools, because far more of this food is absorbed than passed. Some dogs drink a little less, since the food carries its own water. Loose stool usually means the change went too fast, so hold at the last step for a few more days rather than pushing on.

Anything that worries you, call your vet

A number needs a basis.

A guaranteed analysis is a legal minimum measured against a food that is mostly water. A dog eats calories. So we publish per 1,000 of them.

A dog does not eat grams. It eats a number of calories a day, and stops. So the only basis that says what a dog is really getting counts everything against those calories. Every figure here is a measured value rather than a legal minimum, and it is the basis this recipe was formulated on.

Protein 103.1 g per 1,000 kcal
Fat 45.2 g per 1,000 kcal
Carbohydrate 73.0 g per 1,000 kcal
Fiber 8.9 g per 1,000 kcal

Why the basis decides the answer

Same five recipes. Counted properly.

Per 1,000 kcalg of protein per 1,000 kcal

The long game

Feed more than one thing.

The best way to feed is variety. Of recipes, and especially of ingredients. Not one of the five leads on everything, which is the whole argument for rotating rather than settling.
