A free tool from Wynwood Dog Food Co.

The honest way to compare two dog foods.

You cannot compare two labels by reading the percentages, because one food can be most of the way water and the other barely any. This puts both on the same footing, by calories, so the water stops getting in the way. Type in what the bag says and it does the rest.

Start with a photo

Point your camera at the panel on the back of the bag and we will fill this page in for you. Shoot the guaranteed analysis first, then add a second photo of the calorie line, which is usually printed somewhere else. Then check what it read.

The food

For your own notes and for the printout. None of this changes the numbers.

Calories

Every bag has to print this somewhere, usually in small type near the feeding chart. Look for kcal per kg, or calories per cup. If yours gives calories per cup or per can, pick that below and tell us what the cup or can weighs.

What the bag says

Copy the panel off the back of the bag. Nearly everyone uses the first option. The second is only for when you have emailed the maker and they have sent you their real tested numbers, which are exact rather than promises.

Per 1,000 calories

Enter the calories and at least one number off the bag.

Compare it to a Wynwood diet

Pick one of ours and it appears in the table and on each scale as a yellow diamond. These figures come straight from our own diet file, so they are the same numbers we publish everywhere else.
